Spider Web

i've been searching randomly in flikr the photos of spiderweb, and here are some fantastic founds

(fotos: James (Jim) Baker, yvonne mARTejevs, j(an). d(augart), moonjazz)

and i love the indie spirit of Devendra Banhart's little yellow spider
'Little yellow spider, laughing at the snow
Well maybe that spider knows something that I don't know
'Cause I'm goddamn cold'

he's such a poetic who can bend your bad day into a worst day but worst in a good way, coz you would be alone drowned in the pond inside wild cold woods...

hence my reply for those inspirations

Lady Bug in a BBQ

the windy Greifswald treats me sometimes nice, and the stressful mood before exams sometimes releases me. today i had a small BBQ party with some friends from Vietnam, Brazil, Italy and China; and we had lots of fun with the food: mushroom porridge, chicken fried rice, grilled meatball and pork, avocado with yogurt and cream! and of course beer, how can man in Germany survive without beer? ;D

i'm feeling like a ladybug in a little bush singing with a lolly pop!

Long for tropical weather

hah, spring has conquered, but Greifswald is still so cold 15*C but 35km/h windy! Berlin is already around 20*C, warm and lovely.
hence i'm longing for hot tropical vietnam. homeland call!

60s working day

(photo credits: Chicago Tribune, Cemetarian, IMDB, Abdy Antiques)

i must admit that i'm not into TV shows, so when people start gossiping about what they've seen in SATC, Heroes, Prison Break, i start to being dumb!! well well, but since my bf showed me some of Mad Men, it appealed me by the costume design. oh yeah, fashion critics have praised this a lot. and i've been inspired!
60s working atmosphere: high-waist skirt, curly hair, typewriter,... eh, i just wonder why the women in those days have different proportion (very small waist with big pointed breasts) or it's just because of the clothing, hmmm

hilarious shot

i've just had my bang cut (by myself)! didn't you guys notice in my last entry? hhaha, once i posted it in my facebook, my friends applauded my dumb look/ or somehow naive cuteness. it was so funny!

anyways, what is expected to be funnier is this shooting below. hhahahha, i couldn't help myself stop laughing deadly on seeing it. the man behind was walking as if he were also cat-walking behind me. my friend was keeping shouting at me 'quick, pose, walk. this man is approaching you!'. and i really like this turn-out for its lively background. And for such a reason that tomorrow is Men's Day in Germany :D

Literature Writer

today i must write a final exam on literature, which focuses on beginning 20th german poems. that's why my choice was a bit classic, but still strong and bold to fit the soul of Expressionism poetry ;D

70s inspired

iTunes is playing Brigitte Bardot Show album and her attractive french voice inspires me so much to 60s-70s mood.

last weekend George - my best friend in Germany led me to the beach with some other friends. we rode aprox. 10km on bike, through green-like-evergreen wood, through yellow-even-brighter-than-sunlight rape-seed field. almost nobody there in Wampen beach. just some naked women sunbathing, some dogs and owners wandering. i brought Polaroid camera and picked some, realized that we look so 70s, naive, natural, wild and loving!

ah, for such an excuse is today such a party mood.

Enlighten the spring snow

though the weather forecast said that it would snow today, i couldn't have supposed it snows like in storm! can you imagine? no i don't, at furthest expectation from my first winter experience.

of course my clothing today couldn't warm me up enough while i was hardly biking to class. but at least their color did some enlightened job :D

Found

since forcing myself reading literature in German language, and being inspired by european spring nature, i have to admit that i'm falling in love with 'Gefunden' of Herr oh-so-famous Goethe. no it's not that cliché i'd blame for my favorite, it's truly adorable poem of beauty, nature, love, human being, decision.

Gefunden

Ich ging im Walde
so für mich hin,
und nichts zu suchen,
das war mein Sinn.

Im Schatten sah ich
ein Blümchen stehn,
wie Sterne leuchtend,
wie Äuglein schön.

Ich wollt' es brechen,
da sagt' es fein:
Soll ich zum Welken
gebrochen sein?

Ich grub's mit allen
den Würzlein aus,
zum Garten trug ich's
am hübschen Haus.

Und pflanzt es wieder
am stillen Ort;
nun zweigt es immer
und blüht so fort.

this poem reminds me of those Georgia O'Keeffe charming yet sensual paintings, which fulfill with concupiscent ardor but still embrace a pure sight of such naive woman.

hence i grant me a chance today to wear old time lady-like poetic outfit.

Casual Glam

so spring sunshine yesterday inspires my fingers to type more entries.
last week the weather was not that good, the temperature was sometimes, yes unpredictable, sunny and warm-up (looks like), yet in general it was quite cold. early morning around 7am could reach -5*C (23*F). that's why i treated myself a total blacky glam. but i'm a student who went to small class with just around 20 students, living in a conservative-look town, and my choice would better limit within a word 'casual' safety.

there i go casual glam

wedding dress

i disappeared for a week since new semester started again. waking early in morning and studying in library until 9pm steal all my time saving. but i've got the present for you guys, though i really don't know if you would love it. hah, my boyfriend has just got this for me. we haven't made our mind yet, when our big-day-of-our-life takes place, probably next year 2010. but the chance to get this wedding dress is so thin, so we did buy it. i just adore it, original vintage 70s wedding dress, made from beige lace, with soft silk layer dress inside. what makes me wonder now is how to style it with other bride's accessories such as gloves, hosiery, headpiece,... so everything is just at the starting point.

Comic Prints and else

sorry for my lacking of new entries. since last week i pushed myself in a harsh working cycle from 10am to 9pm in uni library. and after so late stay-up last night to watch 'Confessions of a shopaholic' in Russian language (yeah, it was duplicated in Russian, though, such a kind of movie you only fulfill two eyes no need to hear. i know it's cliché to state so when i couldn't hear such a word, but my sense tells that their witness in conversations is unattractive!), my body now is absolutely impaired and forces me to stay at home to complete all housework: cleaning, ironing, shopping grocery, .... i hate this!!!!

anyways, i'd rather stop these complaints which may not collect any sympathy from you guys, and better start reporting my recent days.
i tried several rebellious punk-oriented look. the comic-print garments i've purchased gave strong wind of inspiration to experiment. they're mixture of aesthetics in colorful prints, curiosity of novelistic dialogues, and pop sexiness of pulp-magazine characters. who can't adore those?

Ice Over

recently i feel extremely hate European weather with its shivering on my limitation of sufferance. right now when i'm typing these lines, it's snowing and bone-chilling -9 Grad Celsius out there. well normally in daytime it's not that terrible, yet still -2 or -3 and it doesn't make me fancy at snow anymore hmmm just reminds me deadly of tropical sunshine.

it seems i'm being shrinking inside my mantel!!!

Strawberry on wet dirty snow

last weekend when i was walking to the supermarket, i came across the beautiful disgust: a small red-like-blood strawberry was trampled on wet dirty grayish white snow. 'wow!', i could only utter so. pity i didn't bring my camera.
hence i insert such inspiration into today outfit: gray blazer matching with bordeaux pattern velvet skirt. and by accident the camera was not able to capture correct figure and color of my appearance. anyways, i made use of it as the theme color of so-call 'strawberry on wet dirty snow'.

Happy Tet! Happy Lunar New Year!

it's just 1 more week - 25.Jan09 that comes Lunar New Year (traditional New year of almost Eastern Asian countries: Vietnam, China, Japan, Korea,...). among this cultural westernization had i not felt any change or enthusiasm toward it, until my friend
touched me and made me homesick indeed by its peaceful and memorial gestures. just one pity, i wish he wrote it in Vietnamese.

though, he has another in Vietnamese featured in his blog title

Honey Brownie

after days of blurred grayish fog depressed rooftops, roads, gardens,... and my mood, it is finally back to sunshine. woohoo, i'm tickled pink again. yet today shade is not rosé but earthy shades of brown, beige and cream to match the color of sunny shade on ground, just as the German word 'naturverbunden', literally translated as 'live in close touch with the nature'.

Colorful Geometry

i did mention that my eyes dig in color mixing. hence Viktor&Rolf's Spring-Summer 09 collection gave me the appealing bomb of its stripes, geometric origami, unneat cuts.

elegance doesn't mean giving up extreme experiment. classic lace-up doesn't mean only vintage english look.

playing with origami folding and pattern mixxxiing

some more futuristic sexiness

the Spring '07 they presented in Oct06 also me allures me with their mirror-leggings, (again!) geometric cut formal suits. i can't help myself imagining me in those
cut-star-of-nationalistic-proud (!!!) suits presenting my essay on Democracy, eh!

nice weekend with your imagination power! X

Symmetry Axis

my compact Nikon L6 broke down with lens error and the new L16's shipping hasn't arrived yet. so forgive the bad image quality here of Mac's photobooth (i doubt its resolution is just as low-class webcam hmmm!). but at least i can play with the axis trick ;)

this is for the normal day of school. while germany sky is so dully gray and lack of sunshine, i paint some yellow shades on my body:
on top: quite many layers, here with the order from inside to outside:

Self style

when i think of the way to mention about my own aesthetic exposition, it should be my own style of dressing. this sounds pretty lamely fashionable and make some wrinkle their nose, that hmm Arlette is another trendy girl who crawls among latest fashion seasons. nevetheless, i was often made fun on streets with my bizzare and wacky stuffs on body by trendy youngsters. i'm ultra inspired by Tokyo and London's streetstyles which break the ice of easy harmony, cliché elegance or any so-called à-la-mode.

i fancy hippie late 60s and 70s and funky bright 80s and admire true charm of 40s-50s. but it's obvious that i can't get enough curves and facial expressions for those amoré charm like Audrey Hepburn or Grace Kelly, so it's safer to create a life-amusing look as if motto is 'enjoy until your last minute'

i love color. i love any color. i love colorful pattern, patchwork, compound, mixture... once arriving germany, it's autumn and starts to winter. people therefore wear monotone dark cold clothing. i can't stand this. black-and-white neatness kills me with boredom. hey yeah, of course i do wear black, but i mix it with red for example, or neon-orange.

on that account i claim myself to expose more here in virtual world the selection of my daily outfit. well, my town is moderately small and people don't experiment with their style much, although approx.20% population is students - young life experimenters. that also gives me reason to share my thoughts on self-image on net, as old proverb 'one looks for sympathy'.

i hope you guys encourage me on this track of blogging ;-)

đặt lên 1 miếng féta cheese to tướng. xong! yummm

Polaroid experiment

hallo,

today i've just finished history exam. gosh, es ist doch vorbei!!! yet the presentation on human rights in Vietnam is coming soon. so i'm still in the rush :(. but hey, i've just tested my new Polaroid instant camera which costs me 1€ on eBay. wow, and it functions so well. i adore my new toy, eh?! with its story: it was manufactured and first-hand bought in 1987- my birthyear and it's in RED color. for the readers who are technique geek, its model is Polaroid Supercolor 645 CL.

Sofortkamera Polaroid Supercolor 645CLMy new Polaroid set: Sofortkamera und Brille
it sits beside my vintage Polaroid sunglasses, which was made in circa 70s.

and here is its latest production.
processing the color(processing...)
1st Polaroid experiment

i know, the composition is a bit too tight with vertical objects. though, love the raw vintage color and enjoy much its process of appearing color on film.

only 1 huge problem: the Polaroid film is soooo unaffordable, approx. >20€/pack of 10 films! and it will get higher price soon since they won't produce it anymore after this year. oh noooo!

recent shot (on 21Nov): this was taken at the very first moment of snow falling in Germany this year. and what's more? well, it's the first time i've ever touched smelled been chilled snow. SNOW SNOW SNOW, the tropical gal now can taste you :)

Back to basis - cookies

i know i know, i have stopped blogging with blogger for so long. though other blog services like Yahoo!360 or multiply really suck (to me at least), i keep betraying best friend - Blogspot and run after others like silly bunny just for friendlist!!!

well, life has changed pretty much since the last time i blogged, probably in May (?). i have moved myself to another continent where it used to be the origin of many world's colonies or (more positive) original philosophies. you got it, got it? yeah, i meant Europe. at this 'contemporary' second i'm resting my whole body on the do-it-graphic-designer-Roman couch, moving my bottom on the do-it-film-editor-Trang mattress in cozy one-room apartment of this über-nett-und-engrossing couple in city of used-to-be-West-und-Ost-Blocks Berlin; enjoying home-made peanut-butter-chocolate cookies by chị Trang and reading witty Das PENIS Buch, a gift from Roman, which is in fact taken on the street. oh, what a life!

a little personal information for you guys, i live in between 2 cities: one is Greifswald, which is just a small beach own of approx. 55 thoudsands people including 12,000 students; and the other is absolutely Berlin - packed by 3 millions Deutschers and legal or illegal expats.

the theme of my blog is not really travel blog. i'm such a lazy wanderer (just got the name 'saigonese wanderer' randomly :P ), so you'd rather not expect entries like where must be visited once in Greifswald or where you can find cheap BMW/Audi logos. plus, i think i'm so over my teen crisis, that i won't try to often expose my self-considered-cute images here :)).

kinda crappy opening message, sorry, so how is this blog gonna be carry on? it's still on the track of personal thoughts and captures, there might be just some slight differences that you may find my English ridiculous as i'm getting used to German grammar and start forgetting my English comprehensions (hah, j/k). okie, no more jokes, i've got more chances to touch the Western visual arts, therefore i would love to focus more on it, as much as i can access its senses.

so next posts will possibly about Art Forum Berlin and so on. or some vintage shopping hints lolz.

tschüß!
arlette

p.s on 6Nov08: awful sorry that i let you guys wait for my new entry. but the professors have given me damn many new essays and exams, so i can't split my spare time blogging. yet as soon as i finish those Democracy and Post-WW2 Literature essays, i'll definitely do my BLOGSPOT task :)

The ANA, set up by an independent group of artists, cultural workers and art activists, is an enabling grant body working across borders in multiple disciplines including visual arts, film/video/new media, performing arts, literature, critical discourse and arts management. Inventur (Günter Eich)

Below is my essay on poem 'Inventur' (Günter Eich) in German language. this was assessed as mid-term test.
You can read the poem and general meaning here (in German).

*Tet: Neujahr in Vietnamesisch

Hunger
Reisbeutel fiel unten zum Strom
Schritt, um ihn einzuholen
Hatte Reis ohne Feuer
Der Regen weichte alles Zündholz ein

Klirrte Steine und scheuerte Bambusblätter
Wegen des Hungers versuchte die ganze Nacht
Alle Schüsseln waren kaputt
Dschungelsblätter dienten als Schüsseln
........
Vergaß das ganze Trauma;

In ganz Nacht duschen die Kinder tränenüberströmt;

Pause

DSCN1936.JPG

Dear blog visitor,

it has been cold silent months since my latest entry. I know there are still many of friends and also random strangers coming here, glad to know you care about my thoughts. However, due to some current projects occupied me most of the time, I have found not enough spacious shining ideas to share on blog at this moment.

Though, I promise I'll come back soon. I'm on the way, very fast! Look at the above photo to prove how fast I am now!

With love,
Arlette
